As a writer, I understand the impact written and spoken words have in creating connections.

​

As a passionate advocate, speaker and program developer for children’s grief resource alternatives, I founded Bernie’s Buddies, a registered charity that began in Calgary, Alberta and has expanded to Nova Scotia. Our purpose is helping kids and youth live - and thrive - again after the death loss of a significant person in their lives.

​

Bernie's Buddies provides innovative workshops using an integrated approach for kids living with loss to interact and support each other in a peer environment, while participating in a therapy dog visit, yoga with relaxation exercises, and creative grief conversation. Our workshops encourage building community by reducing isolation through a sense of belonging.
